A completely autonomous drone thanks to AI, weighing only 250 grams – with small wooden structures – and with a reduced cost (less than 500 euros). A single-use, no-expert-staffed remote driving solution that can be used in the defense, security, and emergency industries. The device was developed by Polish startup DefendEye and can fly without configuration.
In short, he does everything by himself. But what exactly? The technology behind these cutting-edge autonomous drones allows for various uses, but above all to revolutionize rescue missions. We’re talking about the first fully autonomous drone in the world: it can take part in defense and rescue operations and perform civilian tasks such as in agriculture or infrastructure inspection. The drone can take off independently, scouring an area, identifying and tracking targets, and then landing safely.
According to the company, the drone launches in less than 10 seconds without pilot training, detects and locates attackers, identifies individuals with weapons, and is single-use and cost-effective, with launch options from both vehicle-mounted and portable tubes.
For example, in an emergency at sea, the skipper can launch the AI-guided drone directly from the boat and the device in a few seconds hovers in the air, flies over the water, and, with its imaging system, identifies the person in the water. In the event of a fire, firefighters can launch it so that it can provide immediate aerial images of the fire scene, without requiring pilot or configuration time.
In addition to the AI system, DefendEye’s drone can be equipped with a night vision camera. Its complete autonomy, including take-off, offers a wide range of applications and, more importantly, eliminates the need for hours of training or the involvement of experienced pilots.
