The longest hotel in Europe has been opened in Poland. The structure is located in the Beskids Mountains, just over six hundred meters above sea level. Here, in the green nature of the Carpathians, not far from the border with Slovakia, the Mercure Szczyrk Resort has recently started operating, a four-star hotel developed from the old Eagle’s Nest, which belonged to the father of the current owners of the Mercure Szczyrk Resort. Right in the lobby, guests can admire the wooden sculpture “The Nest” which pays homage to the history of the place.

But let’s get to the numbers of this hotel designed by Pracownia ARC and Gronner&Rczka Architekci: 330 meters long, 9 floors, and 447 rooms, it can accommodate up to a thousand guests. The resort offers several services: guests can have fun in a water park, relax in the Spa, and enjoy the good food of five different restaurants and for the little ones there are dedicated areas. All rooms from the seventh floor upwards are suites, with high standards.

The facility has 2,500 square meters for events, numerous conference rooms, and a helicopter landing strip. The longest hotel building in Europe, the Polish press recalls, was designed to resemble an eagle’s nest, so as to remember its past.

Although there has been no shortage of controversy over its impact and criticism of its shape being similar to a noise barrier, giant, the designers have explained that the shape of the resort was designed to harmonize with mountains and forests, among other things there is a magnificent view of Skrzyczne, the highest peak of the Silesian Beskids.

During the inauguration, both emphasized that the old structure was the pride and joy of Szczyrk in the 90s and thanks to the work of many people, it has been revitalized, fulfilling his father’s dream. Szczyrk is a tourist resort, a reference point for Nordic skiing in Silesia, and the opening of the Mercure Szczyrk Resort should revitalize the entire area, becoming a point of attraction for the area and hosting events of appeal.
